Fostering Government Dependency

We keep hearing from the GOP that this is what the Obama administration has done and that this is the stated agenda of the Democrats. The very idea makes me crazy. This morning I started thinking about the thousands of veterans of the Iraqi war who are amputees, or have lost other faculties, have traumatic brain injuries, or suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, or have other persistent symptoms that require ongoing specialized care and will have a hard time making a living in anybodyís economy.

Thereís the 8 million jobs lost during the Bush presidency and the corresponding increase in unemployment claims, demand for food stamps, loss of health insurance, etc.,etc., all of which burdened government. The 21% percent increase in child poverty which put children at the mercy of government programs or charities. The misery fostered by the poor handling of Katrina, the refusal to help the auto industry, I could go on and on.

I got so mad I could spit.

Donít even talk to me about fostering government dependency.

1. There is something inherently evil in how they're trying to frame this.....

"dependency" - that word alone is negative. No one wants to be dependent, so it's human nature to automatically say they aren't or feel ashamed if they are.

This is a mind game on an emotional level, to convince people, to change their way of thinking so that they'll feel bad about themselves if they receive any sort of government assistance (and that includes MEDICARE and SOCIAL SECURITY).

We all know what they want to do to Medicare and Social Security, but the country won't allow it, because we have paid into it and are entitled to it, we deserve it.

But if they are able to change the perception....they might actually convince enough people that Medicare and Social Security (and everything else) are bad and need to go away, based solely on an emotional trigger point.

Sick assholes.

2. They seem to live a loony alternative reality that makes no sense whatsoever

I know of nobody out there who would prefer to depend on welfare versus having a job and earning a living. Even a lot of people whom would qualify for it don't want government assistance. I think that everybody fantasizes at one point or another about wanting to not have to work and be taken care of for the rest of their lives but a fantasy is about all that is for most people not rich enough to actually do it.
