He's leaving...I see: YooRa on Trot God Rising

유라, 16년 국악 감성이 녹아든 <간대요 글쎄♪>ㅣ트롯신이 떴다 (K-Trot in Town)ㅣSBS ENTER.

I watched this SBS program a couple of days ago on On Demand Korea. I think this particular episode was styled "last chance." I finally found a youtube clip of the singer YooRa. She was the best singer of all of the competitors. (imo). She has studied traditional guk ak (literally country music) , the pansori style of Korean singing for sixteen years. I don't think she ever made it professionally. That's the theme of "last chance" episode or round for more experienced singers of popular music to get a break or publicity from the program.

I think for commercial success contemporary guk ak singers must adapt their music to popular styles, or they will relegated to academic roles or cultural exhibitions and revivals. Now she is trying trot style music. Her voice is incredible. It's the heart breaker theme. Being left flat at the cafe, with a cold cup of coffee, selfish boyfriend says he must leave to go to another, etc. It's not getting a lot of hits on youtube, so it goes. 글쎄
