AKB48 latest single sells over a million copies on the first day
AKB48's 32nd single "Koisuru Fortune Cookie" (released on August 21st), for which HKT48 member Sashihara Rino serves as the center position for the first time, sold 1,096,000 copies on the release day, and topped Oricon's daily single ranking.
This is the group's 2 consecutive singles (5th single in total) to sell over a million copies on the first day, as their previous single "Sayonara Crawl" (released in May 2013) sold 1,451,000 copies on the first day. Other singles that sold over a million copies on the first day, include "Flying Get" (released in August 2011), "Kaze wa Fuiteiru" (released in October 2011), and "Manatsu no Sounds good!" (released in May 2012).
The 16 Senbatsu members for this single were the ones chosen by "The 5th Senbatsu General Election" which was held back in June.
