How many loners feel that way due to non alcohol consumption?

I loathe alcohol. It doesn't do the happy dance for me. Seems so much of casual socializing revolves around alcohol or some religious gathering, knocks me out of the park for either. I'm stuck with meeting friends thru common-interest websites and associated gatherings, such as outdoorsy groups for me.
I don't prefer to be alone, I just have so little tolerance for how silly people get after a few drinks I end up going home alone.
I don't possess "star" membership here. I'd like to see how many other loners have this problem.

I don't care for alcohol, either, but I will occasionally have a beer. It just never made me feel Nay Jun 2012 #3

I get bored to death watching people get even a little bit stupid, it seems a monumental waste of time.

Also, I don't care for loud places or people.

More the fact that I simply don't like having to come up with conversations over extended periods of time, that's my fear.

the kind of spots that have alcohol aren't places I enjoy. Bars, sporting events, the typical alcohol and socializing places are not places I'd go to meet people.

I find socializing with other people to be draining, and I'd rather do that with sober people so I have some feeling to know if I'm wasting my time or not. Trying to do that when other people are drinking seems a monumental waste of my time as they might not be all there and could potentially forget what happened. Then there are issues you mentioned with people acting stupid/loud, so I can be around people doing that and either be sober or drink. I'd rather just do something on my own than put myself through that.

Drinking with people I know is a different story but again if it can or will turn into a "lets get stupid" outing I probably won't do that more than once. Some people get really loud/obnoxious when they drink if they don't become a different person altogether and that is not how I am so I guess I have little tolerance for it.

anything but queasy or sick; it never made me feel good in any way. As far as going out to bars with people, I don't go because of the overwhelming noise. After only a short time I feel besieged and unhappy. I don't really care if other people get a bit sloshed, really, unless they become loud and obnoxious. My BIL & SIL are big drinkers, and we had a blast with them when we went on a cruise together. But they aren't obnoxious drunks...

Stick with your other activities for socializing. I also have a nature bunch I go out with, and several people with whom I go to plays, movies, etc.
