Atheist holy day

A FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY

In Florida , an atheist created a case against Easter and Passover Holy
days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians
and Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was
unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.

The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate
presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring, "Case
dismissed!"

The lawyer immediately stood and objecting to the ruling saying,
"Your honor, How can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have
Christmas, Easter and others.
The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other
atheists have no such holidays..."
The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client,
counselor, is woefully ignorant."
The lawyer said," Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or
holiday for atheists."
The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fool's Day. Psalm 14:1
states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the
opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is
a fool. Therefore,
April 1st is his day.

Court is adjourned..."

You gotta love a Judge that knows his scripture!

Always hilarious when told by the patriarch at family gatherings...gee, thanks, Grandpa...nice to see you all laugh at a story involving the violent death of a person like me...

2. Clever, but it's only funny if you see it from the xtian perspective.

And when I see it from that perspective, it makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

Had it been a real case, it would make for an interesting look at the process to admonish a judge for misconduct.

5. I had the same initial reaction, and as a host almost locked it as insulting.

Then I realized that this little story is very apropos in light of the recent court case involving the muslim assaulting an atheist and the muslim judge insulting the victim.

6. Like this thread or not, people think this way and consider atheists to be fools.

It says so in the bible. My experience is that many faithful refuse to lesson to any reasonable discussion challenging their faith. They roll their eyes up to heaven and then look back at you in disgust.

Amazing, how the men that wrote and re-wrote that book thought of every contingency...

I can imagine that they sat around thinking of shit. "What if the skeptics ask about..." "Ooooh! good thinking, we'll put that in there, too!"

10. What are you going to believe? The Bible.... or those lying IQ tests?

Or those lying statistics about income levels or education or divorce or incarceration?

There's probably some Bible verse that takes care of all of those somewhere.

9. Atheists! Pissing off believers since the Bronze Age!

Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.'

Right. Which just tells that even when the goat-herders were compiling their big magic book, non-believers were around to mock them.

And instead of cogent, rational reasons to believe in their god instead of...oh, the Samaritan god right next door, or Ba'al or Zeus...what did they do? Just shut off the conversation, called the opposition fools, declared victory and ran away.

Things haven't changed much. For updated versions of the same tactic, visit the Religion group just about any hour.
