some North Korean despot already.

I don't think their message will ever change, and I don't think most people who want a "serious" discussion of religion will find much worthwhile or helpful there to discuss about their own beliefs.

I think we can just wait a few more hours before we see accusations that atheists are equated to Stalin, and that the persecution of American Christians is the paramount problem with our democracy.

Even a heated and spirited debate. But, like you point out, there are some that hijack the debates with things like that. I know of whom you speak, and he's the reason I probably wouldn't make a good host in that forum. I'd ban him the first time he pulled something like that.

thread that, for instance, debated the virtues of one Protestant faith over another, or about how the Anglican Church came about, or how Catholics in Northern Ireland and Protestants there spent centuries fighting and killing each other up until the last few years, the last VERY few years, like the last 15 or so.

Do modern day Christians want to forget the centuries old deadly wars or debates between various forms of Christianity? I really wonder what modern day Christians have to say about all those wars and inquisitions, etc.

of demonstrating to all of the people who never or rarely post that the arguments of the religionists in that group are tired, vapid and intellectually bankrupt. If someone amenable to rationality, but still trying to make up their minds about things spends any time in there at all, they will quickly realize that the best the godsters have is still pretty pathetic.
