Rare fossils in Waukesha

A Milwaukee Suburb is Full of Ultrarare Fossils

Really interesting read on the hows and whys of a large concentration of a lot of soft-bodied organisms being fossilized in the limestone quarries there, innards included, not just shape impressions. We were a shallow sea 440 million years ago.

Of course it will surprise no one who follows Wisconsin politics that there are a lot of more common fossils in Waukesha County, too.
