1. Cool example of reality!

The 2 toothpicks that are positioned to counteract the beam center of gravity

3. Radical left science.

Radical left science.

Heresy.

It's the devil's work for sure.

Rudy, file a lawsuit to cancel it.

9. I have an example that easier.

Next time you're drinking a soda leave just a little in the bottom of the can. it doesn't have to be much, maybe a quarter inch.

Then tilt it and balance it on the edge. the top will lean far over the CG and appear glued to the table.

I works because the soda at the bottom lowers the CG and counters the aluminum hanging out over center. Fun to do at a bar, if we ever go to one again.

10. So the soda acts like a weight in the bottom?

18. Yes, and that moves the CG.

Just try it. If it falls over, try more ballast. Experiment.

28. I can't tell from the angle of the camera shot in the OP ...

Is the water bottle pushed back under the edge of the table in the video in the OP, by the 3rd toothpick placement? If so, then yes, it's the same as the hammer and the forks.

20. Neat trick

But I don't really see it as changing the center of gravity as in the balancing horse toy, balancing hammer trick, etc.

22. Same principle as

a flying buttress, I believe -- it redistributes the force to provide support.

Really fascinating to see on a smaller reproducible scale!
