Christoffel symbols anyone (related to tensors)?

Like to get someone's understanding. Why N**3 entries for N dimensions?

1. A Christoffel symbol has three indices,

each of which can take N values. So there are N^3 combinations of indices.

Yes, Christoffel symbols are related to tensors. More specifically, Christoffel symbols appear in one definition of the Riemann-Christoffel curvature tensor for a smooth Riemannian manifold.
