I want me some digital eyes that I can adjust to see at all ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum! To watch x-rays, to see hot spots that signal infections or thrombosis, to pretend I'm the Predator, heh.

The implant cannot provide any highly detailed vision - but previous studies have shown it can help patients to detect distinct patterns such as door frames and shapes.

(111,249 posts)While the cane can detect obstructions on the ground, it doesn't do much to warn about things like low hanging branches. This implant will.
My mother was blind by my age from ARMD. As of today, I show no signs of developing it. If I did, I'd get one of these in a heartbeat.
