[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]With the number of pathogens becoming resistant to known antibiotics, any novel treatment deserves full and immediate investigation.

Many currently used antibiotics and antibacterials are toxic and seriously allergenic. If you were at risk of losing your life or a limb to a multi-drug-resistant pathogen, wouldn't you be willing to try something that might involve a certain amount of toxicity? (Cancer patients risk the toxicity of chemotherapy all the time.)

With graphene's unique physical mechanism for killing bacteria, it could also well be adaptable for disinfecting quarantine facilities, etc. The multiple possibilities are just coming into view.

Silver has recently been proven a valuable "optimizer" for existing antibiotics against resistant pathogens, but it's also much more expensive than graphene.

We need all available options against these new superbugs.
