Interesting trend here

We've all encountered undercurrenst on DU that are hostile to Jews, hiding behind being hostile to Israel.

Now some posts against Sanders are viewed as... anti semitic. Yes, I was accused as such too. I just smiled.

I think that for Sanders, being a Jew is just a fact of birth, like eye and hair color. And I think that he'd rather not be associated with Israel - one way or the other. Perhaps would even prefer to remove any mention of him working in a kibbutz as a young man, though it appears that it is mostly Jewish publications that write about that.

Oh well..

But I can't recall any.

As an aside, I am of the generation who worked for gentile politicians but never ran for office (outside of certain Northeastern/NYC local elections) because the concept of a Jewish politician was laughable.

Now we have a Jewish major candidate (Goldwater didn't count; he was Episcopalian), a recent Jewish speaker of the house (Republican, alas) and even the Texas state house speaker is Jewish (Republican again, but it's Texas).

I'm kind of surprised it happened in my lifetime.

IMO, though, it is not as pronounced as some are claiming or making it out to be. Should Sanders become the nominee, I can almost guarantee that will change it and it will be much more obvious and frequent.

What I am finding distasteful is some of those making the anti-Semitism claim are hypocrites and it harkens back to your first sentence. It demonstrates how anti-Semitism is acceptable depending on the situation; which I do think is also happening in some cases regarding Sanders.
