Related: About this forumcreationist bill has been shelved
For now, anyway. The God People are easily startled but they'll soon be back, and in greater numbers.
Republican House Speaker Brian Bosma is using a procedural move to kill the proposal for this legislative session. The bill approved by the state Senate would have permitted local school districts to teach creationism as long as it included origin of life theories from multiple religions including Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Scientology.
Bosma said Tuesday that he considered the proposal a lawsuit waiting to happen since the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled before against public schools teaching creationism.

(14,860 posts)How do you show the evolution of theological thought without it?
Physics classes often talk about pre-scientific beliefs on the structure of the solar system, it seems only natural that a theology course would include Biblical literalism.

(19,705 posts)I mean, science has hard and fast rules called the scientific method to distinguish good science from bad science.
By what means does theology differentiate?

(14,860 posts)For example: If you start teaching planetary motion without the Ptolemaic and Aristotelian models, you'll have a pretty tricky time explaining the strong opposition to the Copernican model.

(22,239 posts)Would it be something like:
The Holy Bible tells us that God created the universe in 6 days and then took a nap. The Torah on the other hand tells us God created the universe in 6 days and then took a nap.
Now, let's spend the rest of the semester talking in detail about those multiple creation theories of Judaism and Christianity and a week on the equal "theory" of evolution that the "scientists" conjured up!

(3,622 posts)they would lose the law suit. What a bunch of idiots. Of course here in Ohio they would like to do the same thing but no one is stupid enough in the State legislature to do it, yet.
