A view of technology which is beyond belief

Most people who post here will know that I abhor the spurious interpretations that some of the faithful put into their preferred texts, but the following story takes the biscuit ...

A school in Louisiana called Moss Bluff Elementary wishes to install a palm scanner to speed up the payment part of school lunches. This idea a little controversial, given the problems of such systems, but full marks must go to the school for looking at ways to speed up the lunch queue. Not for some parents however, some of them are objecting because, and I quote,

"As a Christian, I've read the Bible, you know go to church and stuff," said Sonnier. "I know where it's going to end up coming to, the mark of the beast. I'm not going to let my kids have that."

The question I must ask is, "Can anyone save the children from their parent's ignorance and pointless fears?
