When it comes to religion, I believe in equal treatment.

I treat all religions the same. I ignore them equally. Gods, too.

I'm a true ecumenical.

I don't discriminate!

3. I can't ignore them.

They keep pushing their vile agendas into secular society.

Some religions are worse than others.

4. Oh, I don't ignore what they do to cause harm.

I'm just talking about their supernatural beliefs. As long as they keep those to themselves and don't try to foist them off on me or other innocent people, they can believe whatever stuff they can manage to believe.

5. You are also as obsessed with religion

as any TV evangelist I ever saw.
If you want to ignore religion as you say, a good start might be to not post constantly about religion.

6. Oh, dear. I'm afraid I won't be able to take your advice.

Thanks for offering it, though. Really.

I will never ignore the bad effects caused by religion.

7. No I'll feelings intended

and not saying you shouldn’t post - just pointing out there is more than one way to obsess on religion.
I’m a militant agnostic. I just prefer to ignore it since it has no relevance to me.

16. If you prefer to ignore it, then you aren't militant, by definition.

Courtesy of Merriam-Webster:

Definition of militant
1 : engaged in warfare or combat : FIGHTING
2 : aggressively active (as in a cause) : COMBATIVE

9. Hmm...I suppose it is.

It's a subject of interest for me. Fortunately, DU has an area set aside for the discussion of religion. I'm glad of that. It's wonderful to have a place where I can make my opinions about religion available for public reading. I'm very gratified that you, and others, take the time to read them and reply to them.

However, I'm not exactly sure what you think my posting proves. Perhaps you can enlighten me. What is your meaning in this reply? Perhaps I'm not smart enough to divine it from your words. Can you clarify?

10. A nice touch at the end.

"to divine it from your words".

Very nice.

11. Je vous remerci.

I love words that have multiple meanings. It's so much fun to use them and have their use noticed.

Gazing into my crystal ball, though, I divine that you will not find this as humorous as I do.

14. I may not believe in gods, but religion still affects my life.

Deeply religious people are causing lots of problems.

Understanding and discussing religion are important, don't you think?

Your snide attacks on people who are trying to have a discussion are not needed. Please behave.

15. It's OK. Really.

I'm sure he felt he needed to comment, but had nothing relevant to say. Insults serve nicely at such times. I'm always willing to cut people some slack when they haven't the words they need to object to something. There's a Latin term for one form commonly used when words fail: Tu quoque, I believe it is.

20. Define what you mean as "snide attacks",

and then judge your own posts by that standard.

Dismiss them all out of hand. Simple, neat, complete.

13. Well, not exactly out of hand.

I spent a couple of years in my early 20s thinking about all that. Having had a thorough indoctrination into Presbyterianism, I had to learn more about that denomination, and then about other religions of the world. After due consideration and thought, I rejected all belief in supernatural entities, due to their extreme improbability. And if one was false, it stood to reason that all were false.

Und so...here I am, an atheist for half a century.

why shouldn't they all be dismissed equally?

dismiss every other religion out of hand.
