Chile police raid Catholic Church offices amid sex abuse scandal

Police and prosecutors in Chile have raided offices and seized documents of the Roman Catholic Church amid a child sexual abuse and cover-up scandal.

The surprise raids took place in the capital Santiago and in the city of Rancagua.

On Monday the Pope accepted the resignations of three Chilean bishops in the wake of the scandal.

They included the controversial Juan Barros who was accused of covering up sexual abuse committed by priest Fernando Karadima in the 1980s and 1990s.

2. New Bishops needed

Will probably have to bring them up from their farm club. I don't see them signing any free agents. Trades never seem to work out, they just move the problem around.

3. First the victims were accused of lying.

Bergoglio publicly scolded the victims who came forward to accuse Barros . Then a shit storm descended. Then months later Bergoglio sort of apologized. Perhaps the police can get to the bottom of this, as surely the RCC is incapable.

5. Yeah, but then he said he'd be open to an investigation.

Which I'm told is a "good start" despite being neither particularly "good" or even "a start". But whatevs. An atheist said something mean on the internet once. So there's that.
