When people use overt signs to signal they are religious....

They are not really religious, they are just trying to get everyone else to believe they are religious.

1. Whenever I'm dealing with a company that uses a Jesus fish in their ads

I hold onto my money a little tighter and go over the paperwork a bit more rigorously... And it's paid off.

2. I've been in the Church all of my life.

I have known many people who epitomize being a Christian. None - not one - of them have felt it necessary to tell others how pious they are. I have, however, known a lot of people who like to talk about how pious they are who could not have read any of the gospels.

When I see a fish symbol on a business I look elsewhere. When I see a fish symbol on a car, I back way off.

3. That gold-plated anal sphincter who sells My Pillows wears a large cross on a neck chain

OUTSIDE his shirt in all his tv ads. And, surprise! surprise!--- he's also a big Trump supporter.

4. I am glad you mentioned him in particular.

I read an article in Time or The Week almost a year ago and he said he was a big supporter of the moron. Since I read that I can't look at his commercials the same way. I would love a great pillow but I am boycotting his product for that reason alone.

6. What Act_of_Reparation said.

If they're not religious, what are they?

7. Being Religious does not mean you are not a bad person with evil intent.

Not in any way. If someone tells me they are religious believers, I take them at their word. And then, I observe their behavior, because actual behavior is the only way to judge what kind of person someone is.

Plenty of religious people have done plenty of really, really bad things.

8. This OP is gross. And it's a fallacy. But mostly just gross.

Assholes can be religious. Stop feeding the atheist hate by saying everyone who is religious and an asshole isn't actually religious. Please?

9. Do you have any idea how bigoted and hateful this OP is

toward people who aren't religious? Besides that, you've classified an awful lot of people as non-religious who probably aren't. A priest's collar, a Jewish man's yarmulke, and a chaplain's collar insignia are examples of overt signs that those people are religious.
