But some here obviously differ in their personal understanding of the meaning of straightforward questions and good faith responses.

We both know this.

So, using an actual example, if I state to one poster that I can only define Christianity for myself, and a third party accuses me of appointing myself as the official definer of Christianity, I might wonder about the willingness to engage in actual dialogue.

In another thread, I responded that being a Nazi is legal in the US, and that statement of legal fact was misframed, and continues to be misframed, as me claiming that I support Nazis. So yes, these 2 examples among more than a few have caused me to be wary.

In addition, some posters ask questions but never answer them.

But in the interest of dialogue, please ask again.

And if the person persisted, I would inform that person of my disgust with Nazi philosophy.

But Cartoonist was at work, with (presumably) a restriction on what Cartoonist could say to a potential customer. I understand that situation also.

But it's disingenuous at best, hypocritical at worst, to say that criticism of other religious beliefs is inherently bigoted and offensive... and then make an exception for beliefs that are opposed to your own. You don't get to speak out about how hard-line extremists are clearly getting Christ's message wrong (or Mohammad's, or Moses', or Buddha's, or whoever) -- and then squawk about religious intolerance when others say you're the one getting it wrong. That's just not playing fair.

And right on cue, guillaumeb goes and proves the point.

Bold and audacious, too.

Another funny thing - how some groups of people have absolutely zero sense of humor.
