Up w/Chris Hayes discusses Christopher Hitchens' atheism

Last edited Mon Dec 19, 2011, 09:59 AM - Edit history (1)

Badly.

This weekend was the first time I'd seen his new show, both yesterday and today. For the most part, I like it.

Chris and his panelists, however, were clueless discussing atheism. The term "militant" was used a lot, of course. And "evangelizing". And there was no understanding of the idea of "lack of belief in God" vs. adamant insistence of no God. And there was the "tone" argument.

I'd say that they really needed an actual atheist there to take part in the discussion, but then again, I think one guy might have actually said he was an atheist, but in such a low-key, meek and apologetic way that I'd have to replay that part of the show to be sure of what I thought I heard.
