(19,841 posts)I'm sure. They are following the two owls' vacation at the coke. Giving little owl walks to whoever shows up. My sis and broinlaw had a wonderful time there yesterday...60 degrees and sunny. Ferry was longer due to dredging but still a great day for boiding (as my sis calls it).

(60,014 posts)but no money at the time! Now the prices are just silly - much more cost effective to just spend a week there (or two) here and there...and who knows for how much longer it will exist!

(19,841 posts)it's better that most of us are fair-weather friends of course. But I know what you mean. What a magic place. Nice that it is not a private island at least. The locals are so friendly and there is a sense of community there that is very rare except in the most remote parts of the US. That's as attractive as the actual place to me. I love it there but I wouldn't want any coastal real estate located in the middle of the ocean.
