I wasn't watching today because Bethpage was open so I played their Red Course. It was in great condition and the three guys I played with were almost as excited as I was to finally get out and play.

Looks like Tiger is trying to make a move.

8. I guessing non-golfers don't know how hard it is. I mean the ball is just sitting there right...

not moving towards you at nearly 100 mph like a baseball, or spiraling at you from 40 yards like a football or coming across a net at 100 mph+ like a tennis serve.

Should be a piece of cake.

Nope, not at all.

The ball is small, as is the clubhead, the sweet spot on the club head where you want to put on the ball is even smaller, the size of a nickel, you don't get three strikes at it and you have to hit it straight.

11. Maybe the pros should practice.

I mean, on TV a fairway looks pretty tiny - depending on the size of your TV. But in Real Life, it takes a pretty big miss to get the shots some of these "best players" end up with - everytime they play! One of Tiger's astounding stats is how many fairways he misses!

I mean, a Par 3 is a par three for everyone - EVERYONE - who plays. Thats's one on the green, two putts.

Why are the "best" in the lake, out of bounds, in the trees, across the road - that's MY game!

12. Go out and try it. The pros shoot in the 60s and 70s. Most duffers like the rest of us shoot in...

the 90s, even 100s, which means the pros are 30-40 shots better.

Good amateurs shoot in the 80s and even high 70s

That what practice gets you.

Remember every shot is not perfect but the pros shoot consistently better than everyone else because they do practice.

If you can't keep it on the fairway, you can't get on the green with a chip, you can't stroke in a putt - sure, it's entertaining if you can stay awake watching.

You know what's even more boring? That game you mentioned where the ball comes at you at 100 mph!

even wild turkeys, deer and even foxes on back east courses.

You're with your buddies who shoot about the same you do, the beer wench (hope that term is PC) comes around periodically with drinks and food, you might have a small wager on the round, or on a particular shot to see who gets closest to the hole. You laugh at your buddies screw ups, they laugh at yours, but you all praise the good shots.

It's fun if you get bitten by the golf bug. Some do, some don't.

What gets you is when you hit a good, satisfying shot right on the sweet spot. It keeps you coming back hoping to hit more of the good ones.

It also makes you appreciate the pros who take 30-40 shots less than you do to complete a round.

Try it one time and get back to us. It's not boring when you're out there.

"Golf is a pleasant walk ruined."

I have golfed. I have practiced. I found it to be most unenjoyable.

On the other hand, no one ever paid me to play MY game!

Hardy Greaves: It's the greatest game there is.

Rannulph Junuh: You really think so?

Hardy Greaves: Ask anybody. It's fun. It's hard and you stand out there on that green, green grass, and it's just you and the ball and there ain't nobody to beat up on but yourself; just like Mister Newnan keeps hittin' himself with the golf club every time he gets angry. He's broken his toe three times on account of it. It's the only game I know that you can call a penalty on yourself, if you're honest, which most people are. There just ain't no other game like it.

The rooting against Reed was palpable. Rory could have hit one in the water on purpose and he would have gotten more cheers than Reed for making an eagle!

That guy is pretty unpopular both in the lockerroom and with the fans.
