Broncos now 6 point Super Bowl underdogs – but so what?!

KUSA – Sure, Las Vegas has the Denver Broncos as six-point underdogs to the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 … but does that really matter?

It depends on who you ask.

According to data compiled by For the Win, the favorite has only won two of the last eight Super Bowls. The Broncos, who have been in seven previous Super Bowls, have won two – and were the favorites in three.

They were the 11-point underdogs to Green Bay when they finally won in 1997, and the 7.5 favorites over Atlanta back in 1998.

That means the other two times they were favored, they lost (one of those was Super Bowl XLVIII – which we’ll avoid talking about right now).

The Panthers were the seven-point underdogs back when they lost the Super Bowl in 2003. For the record, they entered this season as 60/1 longshots to win the league championship.
