Yogi Berra World Series rings and MVP plaques stolen from museum

Well, this isn’t cool at all. According to the Associated Press, some lowlifes broke into the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center at Montclair State University in New Jersey early Wednesday morning and made off with some priceless memorabilia from the Yankee great.

Authorities say that “several” of Berra’s World Series rings and two of his MVP plaques were among the items taken. Just a shame. Berra won a record 10 World Series as a player and five more if you count his time as a coach. He won three American League MVP Awards during his Hall of Fame career.

It’s safe to assume that this was a targeted break-in and whoever did this knew exactly what they wanted and have some sort of plan for what to do with the items. These are all one-of-a-kind pieces, so it’s not like they can turn around and sell them to memorabilia dealers now. Hopefully they aren’t lost forever.

The Essex County Sheriff’s Crimestoppers program is offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest(s) of those responsible for the crime.

he was giving directions to his house at the end of a cul-de-sac in Montclair, not telling lowlifes to take his stuff.
