Cleveland Indians' surveying attitudes about Chief Wahoo logo

Craig Calcaterra / NBC Sports

Well, not just Chief Wahoo. Lots of things. But Wahoo is in there.

Via my friend Monte the Color Man, the Indians are sending out surveys to people who have purchased tickets through their website or who are otherwise registered there, and it covers all manner of topics. In-game experience, uniform styles and expectations about the Indiansí future.

But there are a couple of questions in the middle that piqued my interest:

The Indians have said directly that they are not considering any changes in the logo and that theyíre not moving to marginalize the Chief Wahoo logo. But they are interested in fan sentiment on the matter, so thatís interesting.

Of course, the issue here isnít whether Chief Wahoo is popular. He is. The issue is that, popularity be damned, heís offensive, so I would hope that the Indians would make a decision to eliminate the logo out of simple decency, not because of some poll results.

I can't find a way to vote online otherwise I would post it. If you want to write a letter or call, here's the info:

1. You have to admit...

It's slightly better than the original Chief.

2. Horrible

20 years ago an in-law gave me a signed lithograph of that drawing by the original artist, Walter Goldbach. Can you imagine? The in-law was a creep, BTW. My cousin divorced him a few years after.

I'm sending a letter to Dolan.

6. UGH!! That mascot has got to go. UGGGGHHLEEEEE!!!

The name "Cleveland Indians" can stay, though.

Some symbol like arrows might also work.

Just my 2 cents.

9. Fine by me.

Seems like a more mature approach to the issue than, say, Dan Snyder's.
