I'm going to lose it if you do this every day. This afternoon I finally filed a complaint with the FCC over our local radio idiots (The Blitz in Houston) for thinking that using the term "Sanduskied" (and pulling down the pants of Penn State and bending them over) was funny. Posting cheesecake shots of cheerleaders alienates an entire group of educated football fans. Please treat me with respect.

Hey did you know that Green Bay was the first NFL team to have Cheerleaders.

OH my!

Several Green Bay Packers cheerleading squads have performed in Green Bay Packers' history. The Packers became one of the first professional football teams to have a cheerleading squad, having first used cheerleaders in 1931. The squad performed for 57 years under three separate names. In 1988, it was decided that the team would cease having a professional squad cheer for them. As of 2007, the team uses collegiate squads in a limited role to cheer during home games.

50. A few words on NFL Cheerleading:
Tue Jan 3, 2012, 07:55 PM
Jan 2012

From Wikipedia:

National Football League Cheerleading, or simply NFL Cheerleading, is a professional cheerleading league in the United States. Twenty six of the 32 NFL teams include a cheerleading squad in their franchise. Cheerleaders are a popular attraction that can give a team more coverage/airtime, popular local support and increased media image. For the NFL, the Baltimore Colts were the first team in the NFL to have cheerleaders in 1954. They were also a part of the Baltimore Colts Marching Band. Currently, six NFL teams have no cheerleaders.

According to most NFL cheerleading sites, cheerleading is classified as a part-time job that consists of time for practice, training camp, games, appearances, photo shoots, and charity events.

Most often, cheerleaders have completed or are attending a university, and continue on to other careers after cheering for an average of one to four seasons.

Apart from their main duties of cheering during the football games, the cheerleaders have many other responsibilities. Nearly every team member is available for appearances at schools, events, conferences, etc., for a set fee. An anticipated annual event is the release of each squad's calendar, featuring members for each month in swimsuits, lingerie, or uniforms. As well as being a mainstay of American football culture, the cheerleaders are one of the biggest entertainment groups to regularly perform for the United States Armed Forces overseas. All performances and tours are enlisted by the USO. Teams send their variety show, an elite group of their best members, to perform combination shows of dance, music, baton twirling, acrobatics, gymnastics, and more. In February 2007, the Buffalo Bills even sent a squad of eight along with their choreographer into the war zone of Iraq. In 1996, the San Francisco 49ers Cheerleaders and their director Angela King-Twitero helicoptered into the war inflicted country of Bosnia with the USO and the U.S. Army. The U.S. troops in Korea have been entertained during the holiday season with the USO's Bob Hope Tour. Over the years, the tour has featured NFL cheerleaders from the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers.

As of 2006, a competition strictly for NFL cheerleaders was introduced on The NFL Network, called NFL Cheerleader Playoffs. Two cheerleaders from each cheerleading team compete against other mini-teams in various athletic events. This includes kayaking, 100 yard dash, obstacle courses, and other events.

Tue Jan 3, 2012, 08:07 PM
Jan 2012

They are really not cheerleaders like in high school or college. They are really a pom/dance squad.
The tryouts are based on looks and dance ability. I am a retired dance teacher in Tulsa and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders ( DCC)
were always bugging me to send my older girls to tryout. You have to have another income if you want to do it too. They make squat.
In the not too distant past it was just $25.00 a game, but I think it's up to 12,000 or 13,000 a year now because of all the extra events they do. This is for DCC. I don't know about other squads.

I was juror #4:

At Wed Jan 4, 2012, 02:12 PM an alert was sent on the following post:

Yeah sure---go for it.

REASON FOR ALERT:

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. (See Community Standards.)

ALERTER'S COMMENTS:

Yes, I know the whole thread borders on sexism but this particular post seems to point to it more specifically.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Wed Jan 4, 2012, 03:08 PM, and the Jury voted 2-4 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: yeah, the whole thread is objectionable and not PC - but I really have a problem with the PC police, and, like it or not, this is in the Sports forum where sort of thing is part of the landscape.
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT and said: I don't see the sexism here. I'm voting to hide the post because it's pretty clear from the entirety of the thread that the intent is not to ogle women who choose to be ogled but to antagonize those who have complained. It doesn't upset me that men look at beautiful women, particularly women dressed for public venues, albeit with the intent to be sexy. But the poster is obviously trying to goad people, not for the sake of provoking discussion but for the intent of upsetting them and nothing else. In short: trolling.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: sports forum - this is what they do
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: I don't particularly like the concept of cheerleaders either but I can't see where this post breaks any rules.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

If that is your thing.

Personally I like the fully developed.

I dunno - maybe it comes up as #83 for you?? Oh well, at least the jury was sane.

If the sensitive sorts are having a hard time here I hope they never see the lounge - it will give them a heart attack.

I have no problem with Trumad or with chess for that matter.

But maybe I should check out the thread and learn something! I've never actually played the game.
