Tennis Spoiler

Andy Murray lost today...he is the defending champ at Cincy, as he won when Djoker retired in the final with a sore back...losing in the third round means he'll lose lots of points...seems like he's trying NOT to overtake Rafoid at number 3. Roger won, Djoker has yet to play.

I don't know if it's Andy's knee or his mind, wiped out after the Olympics.

I don't know why the ATP and WTA don't have the foresight to stretch the sked a bit in an Olympic year.

Roger just won...good...so did Stanislaw, Djoker and Del Potro...not sure who is matched up in the semis.

Venus won but Serena lost, as did Radwanska, 6-1 and 6-1 to Li Na, also known as Na Li. Petra still has her quarterfinal to play due to matches being suspended yesterday.

Can we finally agree that Sam Stosur is the biggest headcase in the game?

I watched v. Fish last night - not much to see. Pretty straightforward for Roger. I would think it would be the same today. We are on vacation and will be out all day but my guess is Joker v. DelPo will be the better match to watch. Rooting for Del Po of course ...

Li Na got herself a coach -good move.

although she bombed out of the Olympics.

I saw the match-ups...wonder if DelPotro has Djoker's number now or if the Olympics were an aberration?

Djoker and Roger in the final...didn't see either but apparently DelPotro's wrist was bothering him...Roger was a little off.

we were out all day yesterday. I did catch a bit of Li playing last night. Great for the tourney that the top 2 guys made the final. I will likely miss that as well driving back from vacation today ... but hopefully Roger will be on today.

I only saw the first set and was thinking...I hope Li gives Kerber a decent second set, then she went and won it...she's very mentally tough these days.

I'm surprised she has held on as long as she has.

14. Rankings are out...Roger is now about 1,000 ahead of Djoker...

Djoker made it to last year's Cincy final, so no new points, Roger didn't play the tournament last year so picked up quite a bit. And Rafroid actually put more distance between himself and Murray, because Rafroid didn't play last year so no points to defend, whereas Murray won the title last year but lost in the third round. Big drop after Roger and Djoker, then another big drop after Murray, as usual. Don't think the women's are out yet.
