Report: Cubs hire Bill Buckner

According to a report from ESPN's Jeremy Schaap, the Cubs have hired Bill Buckner as hitting coach of the club's Class A affiliate in Bosie.

Buckner, the hitting coach for the White Sox in 1996 and 1997, was rumored to be a candidate for a position with the Red Sox. Bobby Valentine has a longtime friendship with the former Red Sox first baseman.
