MadBum deprives the old fogey..

No win for the ages. Or, for that matter, the aged. Madison Bumgarner scattered four hits over 7 1/3 innings and took a no-hit bid into the sixth Thursday in the San Francisco Giants' 4-2 win over the Colorado Rockies.

At 49, Moyer failed in his second attempt to become the oldest pitcher to win a major league game.
----
The age difference between the starting pitchers - 26 years and 256 days - was the largest since Satchel Paige faced Bill Monbouquette in 1965, and the third-largest since 1900, according to Stats LLC. That was Paige's only start that season, so on Thursday, Moyer became the oldest pitcher to make multiple starts in a season.

Moyer will get that oldest winning pitcher record sooner or later, he looked pretty decent today...

Bad news for the Giants is Brian Wilson appeared to injure himself in the 9th..though he stayed in and got the save. He didn't look good at all, even before the apparent injury..

Moyer: June, 1986. Bumgarner, August 1989.

I thought Moyer did well today too. He did his job -- burned innings and kept them in the game. But Bumgarner pitched better.

Bochy says he just turned his ankle, but he didn't look right even before that happened. He almost gave that game away. For once, I'd like a nice simple 1-2-3 ninth... I'm getting tired of his Houdini act.

Check out how Wilson's velocity dropped after the injury. Bochy should have taken him out..

and you can be sure that ankle will be looked over very closely.

Who was left in the bullpen you could trust? Even with velocity down Wilson was still locating pitches.

But yeah, I yearn for 1-2-3 ninths too.

I do not commentate ON EVERY FUCKING GAME!

Besides I'm enamored by the coverage by Bob Costas on the Phils-Clown Fish game.

by commenting on one of the widest age discrepancies between starting MLB pitchers ever. As a Rockies fan and fellow middle-aged old guy, you should be encouraged by Moyers' fine performance.
