My e-books are free on Smashwords this month
https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/DavidDvorkinI'm doing this as part of the Smashwords site-wide promotion, which they run every summer. I've done it before, and I have no idea if it does any good in the long run. It's worth a try, though.
You don't have to make your books free. You can choose discounts of 25%, 50%, or 75%.

A few of my ebooks are free permanently, not just during the special promotion period.
But it's also nice to sell books for actual money.
