Ok, now that I got the obligatory ass-covering out of the way, I think non-PoC need to hear vignettes of subtle racism that PoC endure everyday. I've read many examples, so I'm very aware of those I know about. I'm always fascinated to hear more, but if no one wants to share, that's totally cool. I know it's a difficult subject.

Somehow non-PoC need to understand that racism exists on a continuum. It's not just the KKK and the neo-Nazis and the n-word and blatant discrimination.

Anyway... floor is open. Thank you sincerely for your time and effort in this thread. I will sit back and learn!

1. In my little town

just north of Howard Street in Chicago, there's a veterans memorial called "Fountain Square"

A lot of bicyclists, skateboarders, and what not ride up there and do their thing with their homies; wheelies, stunts, and whatnot

I've noticed for years that when there are a lot of white teenager bicyclists/skateboarders, the cops leave them alone.

When the bicyclists/skateboarders are black (few Latinos is my "little town&quot . the cops can't stay way from the place.

3. As there's only about 10% non white

in my area, most of my kids friends are white.

Their white friends never get stopped by the cops, EXCEPT when my kids are with them. It's like clockwork. SIGH!
