Related: About this forumTrout fishing yesterday in the rain with sixteen and Curt Gowdy one and two.
A ramble cant sleep last night I fell asleep 9pm went to bed was up 12:15 am wide awake.
So yesterday we roll and we hit this limestone stream about eight miles from our home over near state park. Anyway we took two vehicles cuz sixteen is in drivers ed training besides free guitar lessons totally unstructured here at Duncpup school of blues we also offer drivers ed and culinary arts and guided fishing expeditions / circus . So we park the Mazda up stream hop into 4 runner and head about two miles downstream. Were gonna fish moving up against the flow of the stream you cast upstream the nymphs go floating past Nemo and score.
So anyhow we are at our kickoff point where we can walk in to the stream as we are dragging gear out of 4 runner. 19 with the hard questions Dad why are you not putting on your chest waders I told him instead of majoring in electrical engineering this fall he should pursue journalism . I point to the stream water is high from the rain its running fast , and if I get tight and cant work it loose from the stream bank Ill cut break it and put on another nymph.
Side note I hooked up sixteen with her own wet weather gear kids four foot eleven inches what I ordered her was still to big jacket and pants we rolled her jacket sleeves and pant legs up taped them off. 😂
So 18-19 hey were wearing our chest waders now these two have really become accomplished fly fishing dudes. Me nah I dont have patience Im daiwa ultra light rod and reel yet these waters are not strictly fly fishing only , so sixteen and I were trying to find the fish and we were using nymphs weighted to flow along bottom. 18-19 maybe 50 meters behind us.
Sixteen and I locked on the trout its nice spot an old railroad bridge that washed out I was told from Agnes back in 72 ,and next thing you know maybe three fish in like 20 minutes. Before you know it yep here comes my two seriously wading in the stream , I guess its to much to walk along creek bank.
So then you have two fatheads a sixteen year old and Dad sharing a small ass piece of real estate yep a circus. So it gets better 18 says to 19 about a mile up stream hey pass me a sandwich 19 is like huh I thought you put them in your backpack.
A great memory this same stretch we were at yesterday years ago Boog was with us and he took off running because this couple were having a picnic. And we didnt know that they were being intimate I was worried about Boog I hollered he is ok he doesnt bite we walked up on them and they were getting dressed we stopped looked away as they dressed and their was Boog looking for a handout.
That day I told Liz what happened she said really Boog you ruined their romance, yea but lady I got a cookie out of it wag wag.

(25,816 posts)River. I could fish any time I wanted. When my buddy Chuck and I got our poles out of the closet, the cats
started meowing--they knew they were getting treats soon. I always caught three or four. I never fly fished
though, I always wanted to try that. The Deschutes is not a river you can wade in--it is deep, wide and fast.
My old Indian landlord liked me and took me to his home and showed me his large wall-mounted collection
of rods. "Pick one" he said and made a gift to me. Old Hiram Smith.
Great post Dunc.
