MISSISSIPPIi: Governor Bryant Signs Two NRA-Supported Bills

http://www.nraila.org/legislation/state-legislation/2012/04/mississippi-governor-bryant-signs-two-nra-supported-bills.aspx

Governor Phil Bryant approved two NRA-backed bills important to firearms owners in Mississippi. House Bill 695 signed into law on April 17, is a universal recognition bill that will not only allow concealed weapons permit holders from other states to carry in Mississippi, but will also expand the number of states which acknowledge Mississippi permits. Governor Bryant also signed House Bill 455 into law yesterday, legislation which removes the redundant state recordkeeping requirement for licensed firearm dealers. HB 695 will go into effect on July 1, while HB 455 is effective immediately.

House Bill 695, introduced by state Representative John Moore (R-60), requires Mississippi to honor any valid concealed carry permit issued by another state. This bill also grants the state Department of Public Safety continued authority to enter into written reciprocity agreements with other states if those states require such action be taken before recognizing Mississippi carry permits. These changes will eliminate bureaucratic hurdles and facilitate recognition between as many states as possible, benefitting permit holders both inside and outside Mississippi.

House Bill 455, introduced by state Representative Andy Gipson (R-77), eliminates an unnecessary and overly-broad state recordkeeping requirement for licensed firearm dealers. Federal law requires licensed dealers to keep detailed records of sale and limits the release of this information to bona fide criminal investigations. Similar state requirements - which allow the general public to view records on law-abiding gun purchasers - are intrusive, costly and unnecessary.

Why do you need a new association? After all, it isn't the NR&P&RA (National Rifle & Pistol & Revolver Association)! I think their focus on just a certain class of guns, completely ignores the 2nd Amendment! They are anti-liberty!

The NRA-approved re-definition of the 2nd Amendment has already strayed so far from what the Founders wrote.

Tell me - SPECIFICALLY - why RPGs don't qualify for the Good Seal Of The NRA.

That's the job of the NRA, I thought. To lobby for our "2nd Amendment Rights!"

Oh wait, the NRA doesn't even care about their re-definition of the 2nd Amendment. They just care about a specific class of guns. Guns that weren't around when the Constitution was written - but still, not all of the types that fit their definition. Which an RPG does.

The NRA sure has you guys suckered!

SO I guess the gun-lovers' need for guns, and the resulting deaths that occur because of it, doesn't affect the people they murder.

Really, you have to abandon all logic to love guns as much as the gun-religionists do.

So people owning more guns doesn't make it more dangerous for me? That's what you're saying. I'm afraid your logic circuits aren't working.

PS: I just noticed another one of your, ummm, "far-out" statements in a previous post on this sub-thread: "learn to deal with it or move to a gun free country like, say, Haiti, or Somalia where guns are completely outlawed"

So there are no guns in Somalia or Haiti? That's what you said - "gun free".

I just can't stop

Law abiding gun owners are not your problem, criminals with guns are, your feelings, once again, have jack shit to do with anything.

What's your point? That their ineffective law enforcement means we should just give up? Or is it that their ineffective law enforcement has ANYTHING to do with us?

Keep trying! Your points just keep falling down like dominoes.

> Law abiding gun owners are not your problem, criminals with guns are,

I bet everybody with a gun says either "I'm a criminal" or "I'm law-abiding". I bet Zimmerman said "I'm a _____________".

That's some funny shit coming from you.
Here's a novel idea, how about the more than 30,000 gun laws on the books be enforced instead of plea bargained, how about the ATF doesn't let guns walk over the border with no way to track them. Until that happens, new gun laws are just as useless as the ones not being enforced.
Despite what you and others here think, the majority of us do support most of the laws already on the books.

We'd better stop making speed limits on roads since so many people break those laws.

So you're a spokesman for the "group", whoever that is? Or are all the pro-gun posts coming from you under different screen names? How do you know this?

If criminals don't obey gun laws, what makes you think they'll obey new laws, the only ones new laws will affect are the law abiding gun owners, you know, the ones who do usually obey the laws.

Like I said before, your side lost the gun control battle, deal with it.
