A Nevada man got himself arrested Saturday night after acknowledging to Greyhound security officers that he did indeed have weapons and ammunition in his luggage, police said.
About 7:30 p.m. Saturday, as part of a routine security inquiry to all passengers getting on the Greyhound bus at the South Loop station, Daniel Fenstemacher was asked if he had any weapons with him, police said.
Fenstemacher, 52, of the 600 block of Record Street in Reno, replied that he did, police said, and he was detained while weapons and ammunition were recovered from his luggage, which was already on the bus. No information was available to what the weapons were.
Fenstemacher was then arrested and charged with felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, police said.

The fact is, in the modern world, most large cities would get along fine without their hinterlands -- and the right-wing hordes who inhabit them. Toronto suffers from this same disability.
It just sounds so funny to hear Democrats in the US spouting the same social Luddite kinda stuff ...

(15,189 posts)His bag with his gun was already packed on the bus. How is that unlawful use of a weapon? If there was a real need for TSA, they would treat people at bus stations and subways the same as airports. Why is it less dangerous taking a bomb on a subway than a plane? It's ALL theater, and a power grab.

(5,417 posts)I would also be interested in hearing what the federal Peaceable journey laws are in this case. I'm pretty sure federal laws give you some leway in transporting a gun through a state, as long as that state is not your final destination, but I'm not sure of the exact wording.

(32,641 posts)Same type of law in Clark County Nevada(Los Vegas). Can't travel thru with handgun in your car, even if on the way to someplace else.

(18,585 posts)Title 18 USC § 926A.
Federal law trumps state law.

(502 posts)In NV, including Clark County, it is perfectly legal to have a loaded handgun in your vehicle concealed as long as it's not concealed on your person or something you would normally carry, like a purse or a briefcase, and if you have a CHL it is perfectly legal to carry it concealed on you person. NLV says you can't but NV has a pre-emption law and NLV is about to get bitch slapped.

(502 posts)Insinuating (hell, flat out accusing) someone of being racist because they were peaceably traveling through an area with firearms that were not even readily accessible to them?
I'm not sure how this will play out in court, dues to various laws regarding travel through such areas, but at least we know there is at least one person who is more interested in sensationalism Than the truth, or even the fair application of justice.
