Have you considered buying guns in anticipation of violence from Trump supporters after his defeat?

A rather free wheeling discussion on this was locked in GD, with the statement that it belongs in this group.

Just for the record, while I'm already quite well armed, I see no reason for someone who otherwise has no interest in owning firearms to do for fear of roving gangs of disconsolate Trump supporters going on murder sprees after he loses the election, as the OP of the original thread clearly does.

1. Yes, but I think I'd shoot my eye out, so not happening here

Have a healthy respect for guns, but for me they are too scary to own.

Boy Iím a really good shot at sporting clays, though.
That is fun!

5. really nothing scary in owning guns as long as you know how to use them. I was shooting a 22

at age 8 under proper eyes of my dad. I had guns in my kids hands at simialr age in teaching firearm safety, how to shoot, clean pistols and rifles. Took me many years to get my wife on board and 10 years ago we got her several pistols and revolvers for her use and spent hours at shooting range. She is a very good shot, especially with a 9mm.

8. That's almost certainly true.

Itís the accidentally blowing your head off while cleaning it kind of thing that worries me. I realize people who are cautious probably donít do this, and I would be in that camp for sure.

Healthy respect for deadly things is good.

27. The truth is, that is not physically possible.

You cannot clean a loaded gun. The rounds occupy the dirty areas.

2. No

I live in the woods and keep a rifle for critter control. I see no need for more than that.

3. I have been a 2nd amendment guy for 50 years and been warning friends and family for years

and not until the last 2 or 3 years did they start taking my warnings seriously. One reason why liberals, progressive get caught flatfooted is they always gauge the situation through their eyes and not the eyes of those with bloodlust. Can our system breakdown? Absolutely and we will be tested in the coming weeks and months

6. btw, the shelfs and online places are mostly sold out on weapons and ammo and what

is available is way more costly. So if people are looking now, its too late

10. While it's true they're much more expensive than before (expecially ammo), it is still available

online, so it's not too late, just much pricier.

11. even online the selection is vastly reduced. Nowhere can you find a .410 shotgun and I;ve

been looking for 4 months. Hell I had to order online .410 shells for my Judge as they been off the shelves here for months. End up costing me 2x as much "normal"

15. They're out there. Link:

https://www.gunbroker.com/Shotguns/search?Keywords=.410&Sort=13&PageSize=96

1,253 for sale as of this moment.

As for .410 shells:

https://ammoseek.com/ammo/410-bore

Buckshot is rare, although Bass Pro has it (at this time) for $0.60 per shell.

14. I like to read. I dont like to be shot with my own gun.

A high percentage of people who are shot, get shot with their own guns.
Besides, I don't want to play cops and robbers.
I don't want to play cowboys and Indians.
I don't want to play war.
That's not what I want my life to be about, and I refuse to be bullied into becoming the kind of violent person I abhor.

17. I have had guns for years. Inherited most of them. Bought a couple when I lived in the mountains and

owned acreage where we had a safe spot for target shooting. These days they just are locked up. I don't really see them as much use against a somewhat organized group armed with assault weapons. This is not the movies. Anyway, I do not plan to go out and purchase anything else.
I am more concerned with loose nuts trying to take advantage of civil disorder by home invasion/burglary. In that case I do have adequate arms to protect my home....I hope. It's all a crapshoot at that point.

21. Just one man's opinion- others are not negated

Everyone dies.
Being willing to die is bravery.

Killing is a choice.
Being willing to kill is a moral malaise.

I will not make that choice and rather a hermit be.
"Cause NO disturbance!" my God demands of me.

If my water keeps running, I can hole up indefinitely.

And if push comes to shove, I can throw the cans at my assailants.

31. For now at least the beans should be fine.

After knives and stabbing weapons are added to the list of "needs a BGC" bicycle wheels may soon follow.

Stay away from pork and beans. Kidney and chickpeas are best.
Navy beans may be construed as military style.

24. That is a sensible position

If you don't know how to use one, or are unwilling to use one, then don't own one.

I'm generally prepared for an attack on my home as it stands.

25. No I'm not.

There's a t-shirt that says it all for me.
Something like: I am the weapon, everything else is just a tool.

As best expressed in the movie We Were Soldiers:
Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: I think you oughta get yourself an M-16.
Sergeant Major Basil Plumley: Sir, if the time comes I need one, there'll be plenty lying on the ground.

30. Yes, I want something smaller

to carry when in business attire.

I found a good deal on the Sig P365. I think with a tuckable IWB it will simply disappear.

I have an officer size 1911 that I don't really need. My wife's uncle really likes it so I think I will pass it along with the family discount. Also he has been wanting something for his home as he lives very close to Lake St in Minneapolis.

32. I purchased a Sig P365 myself earlier this year. Two big thumbs up.

Only caveat: The magazines are extremely hard to load past the 5th or 6th round. Get a magazine loader if you don't have one, your fingers will thank you.

36. They are thumb busters

lucky I do have a loader laying around.

The other issue I have found is my hand is large enough that my pinky has no room with the flush magazine. That is easy to adapt to but I have to extend it out to drop the mag. It is a bit of an unusual technique.

Otherwise it is ideal, tucks away invisibly and is ridiculously accurate.
