You know, I would just like to see some progress
I am sickened by crazies killing people. Las Vegas, Florida, malls, churches... I'm good with Universal Background Checks. I'd like it if they were offered free for private sales at a local law enforcement office but I'm flexible. Get it done.
I'd like to see an appropriation made specifically for the CDC to study gun violence (that's study not fund some advocacy "control" stuff but study so the nation can learn.)
I'd like a national funding to fix the parts of the NICS database and reporting system that are broken.
Now I know I'm really going out on a limb here but hey I figure I'll ask for the moon. I'd like each of those three items written into one bill each. One bill for each law that's direct and concise.
Now I'll ask for a moon in different galaxy. I'd like each of those three bills to be written, submitted and voted on WITHOUT some laundry list chrome bumper decals, special golden beanie hats or golden denture cups added on as they make their way through the morass of a Republican dominated congress. Nothing added. No racing stripes for aircraft carriers. No platinum toupee pins for the great orange plague. JUST THREE DAMN LAWS. You want five other things... great! Write some other bill for them. These days it's like every last thing has to be a Swiss Army knife of everything to everyone just to get done.
Please work for one of those; work for all three; pick two. Whatever... light a fire under your local congresscritter and get it done. Write the bill; read the bill; vote on the bill. You folks can have lunch and use the can when you're done.
