HAHAHA! Ted Nugent Just Endorsed Mittens!

Mitt Romney may finally be shaking a memory regarding gun control legislation that has haunted him since he was governor of Massachusetts by picking up a critical endorsement from hard-rocking pro-gun outdoorsman, author and gun rights icon Ted Nugent.

The “Motor City Madman” threw his considerable weight behind Romney’s campaign Friday, hours after this column was tipped that the endorsement was imminent, during Thursday evening’s Romney fund raiser at Bellevue’s Meydenbauer Center. This column discussed that gathering and the importance of sportsman and gun owner attendance at Saturday’s Republican caucus gatherings.

Nugent issued a one-sentence comment:

“After a long heart and soul conversation with Mitt Romney today, I concluded this good man will properly represent we the people (and) I endorsed him.”—Ted Nugent

Is it that surprising? Nugent and Romney both hail from Michigan. Romney was also recently endorsed by Rob Keck, who spent some time hunting with the former governor and presidential hopeful last fall in Montana.

Heads are going to freakin' EXPLODE over on FreeRepublic.com! They already turned on Ann Coulter months ago for endorsing Romney.

NUGE: What a total sell-out!

Now all we need is for the NRA to get behind Mitt Romney, and we'll know the wool has been completely pulled over everyone's eyes.

Mitt Romney is really no better than Obama on gun rights. Anyone who thinks he'll nominate pro-gun justices if elected is drinking the Kool-Aid.

This Republican primary season has just gone from crazy to bat-shit insane!

1. Wow - Trump and Nugent endorsements. Willard must be paying for past life sins

A couple of serial adulturer chicken hawks. In other words - typical neocons.

And, since Willard only hunts "varments", isn't Montana pretty much out of his league?

2. For Romney, Ted could write a sequel to "Cat Scratch Fever"

'Dog Barf Fever": It's an ailment suffered by creeps who drive with their dogs on their roof until the poor animal is so terrified that it vomits and defacates all over the car.

Of course, Ted wouldn't care about Mitt doing that. Ted would've shot the dog on sight for soiling his vehicle.

Creeps attract creeps.

Yes, this liberal coward Romney, who is afraid to appear on Levin and Beck, among others, will be the GOP nominee. Folks, he sucks, BIG TIME, and most GOP voters are little more than foolhardy establishment sponges.

5. I think this may mean that the NRA will likely endorse Mittens as well.

And if that happens, they will have shown that they have no principles at all, and really are just pawns of the GOP Machine.

This thread is more more about the secondary explosions than the news, itself.

Check the Free Republic link up thread. It's pretty funny.

14. Mitt Romney is WORSE than Obama on Gun Rights.

Obama has been 100% moderate/neutral on the issue, and I totally respect him for it. Even Shrub was worse than Obama. He said he'd renew the AWB if only Congress would put it on his desk.

Obama is A-ok in my book on this.

Let me be clear that I think the NRA ratings of candidates have generally been accurate regardless of party affiliation, but it is true that the bias and prejudice of the conservatives in the NRA comes out in their rhetoric.

Mitt is a douche nozzle, but here is how he handled himself at one of the debates....

Q: You signed the nation's first ban on assault weapons in Massachusetts and steeply increased fees on gun owners by 400%. How can you convince gun owners that you will be an advocate for them?

ROMNEY: We had a piece of legislation that was crafted both by the pro-gun lobby and the anti-gun lobby. The pro-gun lobby said "this legislation allows us to cross roads with weapons when we're hunting that had not been previously allowed." And the day when we announced our signing, we had both the pro-gun owners and anti-gun folks all together on the stage because it worked. We worked together. We found common ground. My view is that we have the second amendment right to bear arms and my view is also that we should not add new legislation. I know that there are people that think we need new laws. I disagree with that. I believe we have in place all the laws we need. We should enforce those laws. I do not believe in new laws restricting gun ownership and gun use.

and last time...

Support the 2nd Amendment AND the assault weapon ban
I do support the Second Amendment. I would have signed the assault weapon ban that came to his desk. I said I would have supported that and signed a similar bill in our state. It was a bill worked out, by the way, between pro-gun lobby and anti-gun lobby individuals. Both sides of the issue came together and found a way to provide relaxation in licensing requirements and allow more people to--to have guns for their own legal purposes. So we signed that in Massachusetts, and I’d support that at the federal level. It did not pass at the federal level. I do not believe we need new legislation. I do not support any new legislation of an assault weapon ban nature, including that against semiautomatic weapons. We have laws in place that, if they’re implemented & enforced, will provide the protection and the safety of the American people. I do support the right of individuals to bear arms, whether for hunting purposes or for protection purposes or any other reasons. That’s the right that people have

The NRA will have to hang their hat on Supreme Court nominations. President Obama nominated Justice Sotomayor went with the dissenting minority with Mcdonald and there is no reason to think that Justice Kagan change the dynamics much.

Regardless of the NRA, I'm confident that Obama will win in 2012.
