Notably, the growth rate for women getting new permits is twice as fast as that of men.

(6,185 posts)I have a lot of couples and single women taking the CCW course. 2 Pink Pistol groups of women from Chicago probably skew that a bit. I'm sure they'll be stunned to find out they are "stupid", according to some so called progressives.
On average, probably 50% are women.
Kind of surprised me. I thought I'd have mostly guys for a while after CCW finally passed in Illinois.

You're pretty ecstatic about Washington state where 91% of adults do not have a concealed carry license (ccw permit). If that's 'skyrocketing', cancel any planned trip to the moon, you'll nosedive right back into your launch pad.
Between 2005 and 2012, the number of state residents receiving new concealed-carry permits tripled to 62,939.
Wow. But but but -- during that same time period '05-12, the population of Washington state increased by 600,000, which your blurb doesn't take into account. (does seem a bit inordinately high tho, but hardly skyrocketed) http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/planning/wtp/datalibrary/population/wspopulationgrowth.htm
Now some 451,000 Washington residents are allowed to carry a hidden handgun almost anywhere they go, more than 100,000 of them women.
Wow. But that means that approx. 6.3 million Washingtonians do NOT carry a hidden handgun, more than 3 million of them women. Imagine, only 100,000 Washington women legally carrying guns but over 3 million NOT carrying guns. Stop using the word 'skyrocket'.
Notably, the growth rate for women getting new permits is twice as fast as that of men.
This means what, diddly squat or duddly squat? since the male population surely gun saturates faster than their opposite sex.

(39,171 posts)even though we get to that point by different routes.
I was merely pointing out that CCW is growing in popularity. I realize that only a small percentage of Americans will ever conceal carry, which is fine.
Of all the issues that controllers get excited about, CCW is the one that makes the least sense. CCW permit holders are not a significant issue when it comes to gun deaths.

(18,318 posts)The rise in women gun-owners has been a thorn in the side of many feminists for the last few decades. They don't know what to make of it.

(33,982 posts)My wife has equal claim to our entire gun collection.
My Wife, Mom, and Sister all have permits.
Given that the permits are a total pain in the ass to acquire (and I swear, some anti-permit bastard made the card too big to fit in a wallet on purpose.) it's not surprising to me that only about ~10% of the state population chooses to get one.
The process to obtain it is the same as the background check for adopting a human being as your child. (Just the background check, obviously there is no home study)

(18,318 posts)concealed in WA is close to the 23% denoting armed women over all in the U.S. I wonder if the over all rise in female gun-owners masks an unusually large increase in concealed-carry women.

(11,181 posts)I don't blame women for carrying, considering how many male assholes are out there. Some of those males even think carrying a gun is fun. I doubt too many women think that. I think most women are tired of assholes who glorify carrying guns.
BTW, there are no willing victims, unless you include those who buy into the politics of fear peddled by the NRA and its supporters. But you knew that didn't you "Mr family fun gun guy"?

(10,164 posts)I do enjoy practicing with my carry pistols, but my "fun" guns are rifles (I'm a competition shooter: long range rifle stuff), and those aren't "protection guns."
Carrying concealed is serious business, to be approached with the utmost gravity.

(4 posts)my experience from my little world.
I have known these two women that used to be my coworkers 10 years ago, and who are still living in their native deep South, red state and at that time there was no mention of CCW whatsoever. In the last months, suddenly, they are both publicizing their new guns with photos and such. I think this is part of the above mentioned trend and I also think it is unnecessary. I'm very against guns, and I would support a total ban of guns for civilian/personal use.
