'Firearms Prohibited' Signs to be Installed in All District 41 BuildingsMaintenance staff at Glen Ellyn Elementary District 41 will be adding new signs to the district's five schools over winter break, according to a newsletter sent out by the district Wednesday. The signs, which will be placed at the main entrances of each building, will clearly show that no guns will be allowed on the premises.
This past summer, Illinois passed Public Act 98-63, the Firearm Concealed Carry Act, which allows properly licensed individuals to carry concealed firearms. School districts and other entities that prohibit firearms are required by this law to display a sign provided by the state to make it clear that firearms may not be brought onto school property. http://glenellyn.patch.com/groups/schools/p/firearms-prohibited-signs-to-be-installed-in-all-district-41-buildings

1. Signs, Yeah!
So now the next time a whack job brings a gun on site and uses it, we can prosecute them!
If only signs at school really made a difference. Reminds me of this OP about signs at schools: http://www.democraticunderground.com/11242574 In fact, I think some signs impact whether or not kids can learn: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023747556 ![]() |

3. I would love to listen to this discussion
The newsletter encouraged parents to show the sign to their children to explain that it is meant to help keep them safe.
IME children can ask rather direct, probing questions. |

4. Probing questions like,
when was the last time a no firearms allowed sign stopped a determined gunman?
