City Wants to Seize House Over Tall Grass in Yard

SnittyGrappleHat Retweeted

While this guy was out of town, settling his mother's estate, the man he hired to cut his lawn died. The city fined him $500 a day for excessively long grass without telling him. Now it wants to settle the bill by taking his house. via @brianmdoherty

My friend lives in one of those and they are horrible.

Her husband died and she had three children to deal with and could not afford to hire lawn service and had nobody who either would or could mow for her. Well, she kept getting what she called "nasty grams" about her unmowed lawn. So, one night when her kids were in bed and she finally had time she went outside and mowed her lawn. Well, OK, she mowed it as well as she could being completely blind.

Some days later a neighborhoor mowed her lawn and kept up until things at her home setteled a little more after her husbands death.

She also calls the people of the home association "Neighborhood Nazi's".

Oh yeah, they threatened to charge her also or sell her place also.

Seems like every 7-10 years some busybody manages to get a measure on the ballot to incorporate & become a city & it's always soundly defeated, we don't want to deal with crap like what this article describes.

Usually the busybody is someone who moved here from a place with perfectly neat manicured front lawns & they don't like all the folks who have boats in their front yards. My opinion is, if you don't want to see a boat in front of every other house, don't move to an island. #Duh
