So much greater was the attention paid to her than to him that President Kennedy remarked to the press, with some pride and humor, “I do not think it altogether inappropriate for me to introduce myself. President de Gaulle was dazzled, too, as she spoke French to and charmed him through lunch:

1. Jacqueline & John F. Kennedy in Paris, 1961, more:

On May 31, 1961, French President Charles de Gaulle gave a state dinner at his presidential palace in honor of U. S. President John F. Kennedy and the First Lady.

Not looking all that jetlagged, the Kennedys return to the Quai D'Orsay after dinner with President DeGaulle and his wife at Elysee Palace.

4. De rien, et je vous remercie

par le bon mot! Civilité, c'est parfait. En effet elle était une femme très èlegante, très brillante, et bien sûr, une francophile dévouée. A special first lady!

p.s. bienvenue, welcome!
