(611 posts)One of my cats, Seb, got a shipment of organic catnip from one of my friends. Before I even opened the box he leaped from our kitchen table on to the kitchen counter and started scratching on the box. Somehow the container had opened in the box. I gathered up most of the catnip, (fighting off Seb,) and put it in another container. Then I put the box and Seb on the floor. He tore that box to shreds, and then just stuck his face inside what was left of the box, licking the nip and biting and scratching the box. When he finally passed out, he just slept and slept. Good times! Hope Rufus had a high old time! Take care.

(478 posts)used to do it forToshiro Plushbottom. He'd dig them out of the trash or sink and tear them up in the middle of the night. Hearing noises, I'd go downstairs to investigate and find him covered in damp leaves, on his side and dragging himself around a chair without even trying to get up, and chewing on all the chair legs. Of course, catnip is a mint.
It was especially funny because Tosh, even though he was a stray, was a dead ringer for a British Blue and White. A big bread loaf of a cat, all muscles and dignity. He was the Godfather of the household and took no nonsense from anybody. He came out of a 7-11 parking lot, bumming for Slim Jims, with every parasite known to man. So we named him after the actor who played the flea-bitten samurai, adding Plushbottom for obvious reasons.
