'Dog is My Copilot' sets rescue record in Boise

BOISE – After a journey of almost 1,000 miles, 18 small dogs are looking for new homes at the Idaho Humane Society.

The lucky canines touched down at the Jackson Jet Center on Monday. They arrived via a small aircraft piloted by Peter Rork, orthopedic surgeon, dog lover, and president of the “Dog is My Copilot” animal rescue charity.

Rork says Monday’s flight set a record for capacity, adding that his small airplane was “packed to the gills,” with pet carriers.

"Today was a record day for me and for our organization -- 18 dogs and it was very crowded,” Rork said.
