Related: About this forumI don't know if I am underfeeding these kittens, or if they are just gluttons!
Any time I walk into the kitchen they race to their food bowls, trying their best to appear malnourished. Even if they've just eaten!
And when I eat? Sophie and Boudicca were really good about leaving people alone during meals. Gryff is also pretty well behaved but Madoc?? It's like being circled by a small, four legged, black and white, furry and very voracious shark who can JUMP. I sometimes feel like a seal in the open ocean.
They are lucky they are so incredibly cute. And affectionate. I just hope Madoc never figures out how to open the refrigerator.

(115,571 posts)He eats at least 3x as much as my indoor cat. After he consumed his fourth can of cat food the other day, I noticed as he waddled away that he was bulging out a bit at the sides. But he isn't fat. He's sleek and muscular, and he seems to be young - no more than maybe a year or 18 months, so I assume he needs all that food to keep growing and stay warm.

(30,935 posts)In the summer, Tiger my 11 year-old back porch cat, slims down a little bit and doesnt eat nearly as much,so Im always glad to see him putting on a little weight this time of year. The outdoor cats also grow longer hair. I hope yours stays as loyal and healthy as mine has. Hes very sweet and affectionate too. Just doesnt like to be in the house with the door closed. He climbs up the pole to my second floor deck every day at suppertime. He has a little house out there, too. Keep up the good work

And feed them just before rushing to the table with your meal, for a few sane bites.

I'll be glad when they can transition to adult cat food. Kitten canned food is expensive, and sometimes hard to find!

(57,073 posts)They will hit their limit & learn to self-regulate.
Have you tried Chewy, com? I posted about Fancy Feast being difficult to find & several members encouraged me to try Chewy. I did & love the selection, prices, autoship options, bonuses, & discounts/rewards!
They are growing boys, after all. So "food emergencies" are likely the norm.
