A Valentine present for my rescued pup, Hal.

He has an appointment to get a locator chip. 'Cause he loves to run out the door and sit at the bottom of the stairs looking up at us. See what a good boy I am.

He is also being neutered on the 14th.

7. Last week was his 1 year anniversary in his forever home.

He turned out to be a Terrier mix. Not my first choice since we also have a house full of birds.

He thinks the Blue and Gold Macaw should be a playmate. Miss Frodo, the Macaw, teases him with her bell. This interaction worries me.

2. Awesome! You're a good pet parent. I've got mine chipped, too, even though

the farthest they get from their favorite snoozing spots is the inside hallway outside of my apartment. But you never know. Good luck on the 14th!

8. Thanks! He is afraid of so many things, I don't want him getting lost.

When the weather warms up I'd like to take him to a 'dog park' to play off the leash. At this time his only free time is inside or on my back deck.

3. Does that come with a phone app?

Pretty handy thing to have. I wish they'd had them when I was growing up. Dachshunds move fast and they like to get out of the house.

6. I wonder how long it will be before parents can elect to keep those baby low-jacks

from the hospital. I'm surprised there isn't already an industry built up around it. "Keep your kids safe until they turn eighteen!"

10. It probably does.

I haven't added any apps to my phone yet.

Terriers are quick. He has almost yanked me off my feet a few times. My solution was to buy a Joyride Harness and a non retractable leash.

11. My former Lab

would dig under our chain link fence to escape. My husband had to put stakes all around the bottom of the fence to stop her from doing that.

13. Hal is definitely a runner. He thinks he is supposed to chase cars.

He weighs 19 pounds.

I watch for cars and walk him away from the street when I see or hear one approaching.

Good luck. The chips aren't expensive.

14. All good things. Hal may disagree!

Good luck to you both! Good on you for taking such good care of the little guy!

17. Hopefully Hal will become less aggressive after the neutering.

He barks at men, loves women.

Thanks

19. Enlarge the photo, the thing that looks like a sidesway dime? That is the tracker

I still got all of my dogs microchipped, just in case the collar/tags came off.

21. A favorite Twitter account.

The story of how the humans convinced a feral cat to become a well fed house cat is at his website, strayliotta.com
