I'd be more concerned and angered if he were riding in open back of the truck. sinkingfeeling Jan 2012 #3

As to the specific case you encountered, I really don't know what to say.

Either way, I don't consider it abuse. And a dog with a coat like that could handle any weather.

A moving vehicle causes wind and being wet and cold could lead to pneumonia. I also wish they would completely outlaw dogs standing loose in truck beds. Too many are killed when they jump or are thrown out of them.

It's terribly unsafe not only for the dog but for others using the road.

I can't understand why the dog would be in the truck bed anyway... if you want to take your dog with you in the truck then for crying out loud have him sit in the cab with you! If you're sticking him the bed, then why the hell did you take him with you???

A neighbor of mine had one and Alex loved to be out in the rain. I would be sad to see a dog in the back of a truck though. That seems to be common down here and it drives me nuts.
