Related: About this forumLarge, beautiful dog sitting in back of truck, cold, pouring down rain.
He looked just like this dog except hair a little shorter around the neck.
Is this abuse? Or are dogs okay sitting in the rain?

(224 posts)Either way, I don't consider it abuse. And a dog with a coat like that could handle any weather.

(51,444 posts)A moving vehicle causes wind and being wet and cold could lead to pneumonia. I also wish they would completely outlaw dogs standing loose in truck beds. Too many are killed when they jump or are thrown out of them.

(11,065 posts)It's terribly unsafe not only for the dog but for others using the road.
I can't understand why the dog would be in the truck bed anyway... if you want to take your dog with you in the truck then for crying out loud have him sit in the cab with you! If you're sticking him the bed, then why the hell did you take him with you???

(68,918 posts)A neighbor of mine had one and Alex loved to be out in the rain. I would be sad to see a dog in the back of a truck though. That seems to be common down here and it drives me nuts.
