How far north will wisteria grow and bloom?

Lots of it grows in my area (SC) and seems like I've seen it on TV shoes
supposedly in England.

1. I live near Seattle.....

and there is a lot of it in my neighborhood.

2. The latitude doesn't matter, it's how cold it gets in the winter.

The American species to about USDA Zone 4, or -30 degrees.

The Chinese and Japanese to USDA Zone 5, or -20 degrees.

3. I grew up in northern New Jersey.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]That's considered zone 7a (as low as 0-5 degrees F in winter).

One of our neighbors had the most magnificent wisteria vines I've still ever seen covering one side of his garage, and that was many years ago, when it actually got that cold.

4. We have them here in W PA, zone 6a

that was 5b. They do well here.
