Leftover lasagna. Late lunch for me.

TJ is off tonight, but sleeping now, so we might prepare something 11ish tonight.

or, Polish stuffed cabbage rolls. I haven't made these in quite some time, but when cabbage is on sale for 6 lbs/1$... Even a screw up by tearing the leaves can be cheap!

I bought a 8-inch diameter head, so as to have huge leaves to roll. (Yeah, ya have to shave down the thick veins, but what the heck.)

Standard recipe, though: ground pork and beef, par-cooked rice, rolled and placed into a pan with a thin tomato sauce. I'm going to add diced tomatoes, too, this time. Seasoned the meat with paprika, S+P, and garlic. Caution was observed for over-seasoning the meat.

*ps: It was hard to re-find the recipe because I pronounce the "L" as a "W", like the Polish nuns in my hometown did growing up ("gowumpki&quot . They were the masters at this dish!

I like to add a pinch of sugar to mine.

This is one of my favorite dishes. In NJ, though, I hardly can afford to make it, as there are Polish delis around here that sell it so inexpensively and who do it so well.

about 1.5T of brown sugar to the tomato sauce. Forgot to mention that.

(I use brown because I have no white cane sugar in the house.)

And yes, Cher, when you find a Polish enclave somewhere in your town, it's always better to eat at their "house". It's easier, cheaper, and probably better than your own.

Now, if I can just master cabbage pierogi......... (not gonna happen any time soon, I think.)

with buttermilk, cheese and garlic. Added sauteed small shrimp, leftover chicken and cooked brocolli and poured it over fettucini. Not bad.
