I usually eat plain-low fat yogurt with chopped fruit in it for breakfast. My husband accidently picked the cream top yogurt. It was too good to be true. I looked on the carton, it has about 60 calories more per cup than the low fat. I usually eat 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup each morning, so I decided it was worth the extra calories. The brand is Brown Cow although other brands also make cream top. It is made with un-homogenized whole milk, so the cream part rises to the top of yogurt. If you haven't tried the cream top yogurt, check it out!
I can't wait to make some frozen yogurt with it. Got my trusty little Krup's in the freezer right now.

(2,674 posts)Here is my recipe for blackberry frozen yogurt. I am going to try this with the cream top yogurt, I bet it will be yummy!. I use a Krup's ice cream maker. It is so easy to make ice cream, sorbet or frozen yogurt in one of these little gadgets. One thing I learned is to freeze both the tub and dasher, makes the ice cream or frozen yogurt set up faster.
1 bag of frozen blackberries (Frozen raspberries can be used, too)
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 cups plain, non-fat yogurt
1/2 cup milk
Place blackberries and sugar in a sauce pan and cook on medium heat until the juice is extracted from the berries, about 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool a few minutes, then push the berries through a sieve or strainer to extract the juice. Discard the seeds and pulp.
Mix the blackberry juice, yogurt and milk in a glass bowl. Stir or whisk the mixture to thoroughly to incorporate the yogurt into the blackberry juice. Taste and add more sugar if needed, stir well to dissolve the sugar. Place mixture in refrigerator to chill, at least an hour or longer.
To make the frozen yogurt, place mixture in the frozen tub of an ice cream maker and process about 20 minutes or according to manufacturer's instructions. Makes about 3 1/2 to 4 cups frozen yogurt.

(2,674 posts)Just made plain vanilla, I was out fruit to add to it, and didn't want to wait around for the chocolate to cool. It was so tasty! Rich and creamy like ice cream, but with a nice yogurt tang. I used 2 parts yogurt to 1 part milk, some sugar and a little vanilla, how simple can that be? Froze it about 15 minutes in my Krup's ice cream maker, couldn't be easier.
