Who has the world's best no sugar (relatively) low carb hot chocolate ice cream toppping recipe?

Sparkly and I share a non stop jones for hot fudge sundaes. Splenda is the sweetener we've chosen to use. We don't like Stevia for a few reasons, taste being the biggest. We've followed recipes explicitly. We've improvised. Most have been pretty good. None have been perfect.

Has anyone here had success?

I tried DiabetiSweet when I was working on a low carb macaroon a few years ago. It used to be the only sugar substitute that could be cooked with safely. I'm sure you could sub with the splenda with a little tweaking.

3. Don't get the pre-packaged stevia. Grow your own. It does great in containers.

I've had both and nothing compares to home-grown. It only takes a little bit to pack a punch. I don't like chemical sweeteners. We basically use stevia or honey except for baking (where the consistency is dependent on more than flavor).

SparklyJr was working at a nursery last spring and gave it to us. We're the World's Worst Potted Plant Growers.

6. It lived through the summer and fall on the front porch. It got frost nipped. We took it in.

Alas . . . . RIP.

Like I said, we're not good with potted plants.

9. There is another sweetener on the market that you might want to try.

It's called "Ideal", and it's made predominately from xylitol, with a tiny amount of Splenda. They have powdered and brown versions, as well. I like it better than Splenda. My only caution is that you keep it away from your pets. Xylitol is toxic to cats and especially dogs.

I don't like Stevia, either. I find it kind of bitter and fake-tasting. And, Splenda is okay in small doses. None of them make certain recipes quite as good as they'd be with real sugar, however, I have found Ideal to be the best of the lot. I made some chocolate frosting with the powdered sugar Ideal, and it was quite good.

10. Sugar alcohols tend to worry me, but that one seems to have a clean bill of health

I just did some reading up on it.

The dog part is a worry for us, though. We have three dogs and while we are careful about their getting human food unless we give it to them, it happens. They're too important to us to take the risk. Between the chocolate and the xylitol, they'd be in deep doo doo if they ever ate any.

But I do thank you for the suggestion. I must admit I never heard of Ideal before.
