Happy Valentine's Day all!

(12,253 posts)You are smart to go for lunch. In our neck of the woods, the eateries take this day as an opportunity to bump their prices up about 20% for dinners. Also smart to have a light dinner!

(60,014 posts)earlier! As we've gotten older (and more into shape), we no longer can eat those big restaurant dinners like we used to!

(12,253 posts)We reminisce about the days when we would eat 13 bagels on Sunday! We are much healthier now and small portions are the rule. Restaurant portions are ridiculously so huge that I find myself satisfied with an well garnished appetizer.

(12,253 posts)And polishing the silver candlesticks. The work is mainly done with the main course steeping in its own juices overnight. I just have to bring it up while I make the veggies. A piece of cake!

(12,253 posts)I always enjoy a little vacation from routine housewifery when Mr. Pup is out of pocket. I have to redo our taxes. I e-filed on Turbo Tax and then got a piddly statement from Amazon from my book (that isn't selling!) for $123 last year. Doh! Now I have to file an amended return by mail. I hope they don't charge me an arm and a leg for the amendment. Putting all that aside for Valentine's Day and planning to have a good dinner and some prime cuddling.

(106,886 posts)I really like doing one pot meals. Well browned, breaded chicken thighs, then covered in sauce and cheeses and into the oven to finish.
May add some broccoli to the skillet. Left over rice, reheated.
